Update on Influenster- My first vox box! Oct-Nov 2012

Previously I gave an overview of what Influenster was all about and how excited I was for my first voxbox. You can find that here. It has a ton of info. The unveiling finally came! I avidly awaited my first box like a lil girl on Christmas morning. The wait was torturous, given that it was stuck at the post office for days.

The verdict. OK, I have some awesome news and some not so awesome news. I love a good portion of what came in the box. I do have to point out that I was influenced enough by the box to go and buy my first 2 3 wick candles from Bath & body Works. I got an amazing deal! I have to thank Influenster for that. This program definitely has the right name.

The little candle sample that was in my box smelled nothing short of awful to me haha, BUT, it made me sniff out more scents in the store, and I'm glad I did. the throw was really nice and I thought if I could find a good smell I would be impressed. I fell in love with the Plumberry and Autumn. The Plumberry is from their White Barn line and the Autumn is from Slatkin. Both smell amazing and the throw IS impressive in both. The box did come with a coupon to get $10 off a fall scent, but I didn't find anything I wanted in store. I wish it hadn't expired so fast and covered more than just a fall scent. I ended up using my older coupon for free shipping that I received from another purchase, and coupled that with the 3 wicks for $20 deal!  I also got a gorgeous Tree cut out metal candle holder deeply discounted online as well. I love their online sales! OK, I'm gushing about candles too much, moving on to the box....

The Beauty Vox Box included:
  • Everpro lashes by Kiss- these were kind of difficult to get and keep on. I don't know if it was because it was my first time or what, but I liked the look. Much more dramatic than I'm used to.
  • The Spin Pin by Goody- Abillity to put your hair up in 3 styles- This is an awesome little 3 in one tool. I do have thick hair though and wonder how it will hold up all day.
  • Bath & Body Works "White Barn" line- Black Pepper Bergamot- This smells like the man of the night. It's simply an overpowering cologne scent. I am not a fan of those scents in a candle. On a man is a different story all together. When doused lightly on him, it would be pleasant, but it fills the room like he bathed in it. It should not be described as a fall smell, unless we are talking about fall-ing to the floor from over powerful fumes.
  • Smooth moves Frizz Control Hair cream- Wonderful coconut smell that I love, and it performs as expected. I didn't see a vast improvement in frizz control, but that smell. Yum!
  • NYC New York Color Individual eyes- This was a very nice palette for a drugstore product, but a bit too dusty. I love that it comes with a primer spot built in! Primer is so helpful and only just discovered it's miracle this year. The colors were very pretty and you have every shade you need for a perfect smokey look. Aside from that, I am trying to stay away from animal tested products so I will probably donate it.
  • Sample packet of E-boost. Not a fan. It doesn't have a pleasant aftertaste. I'll stick with EmergenC.
*I am a bit sad though, as an e-mail from them told me I was one of the lucky people to get a Vitabath full size sample in my box, and there was nothing of the sort :( Things happen, they're a busy company, but I would have loved to try that out.

I would say that all in all, this box was 60% awesome and 40% not so great. It could have been a lot worse. In all honesty, I would be more disappointed if I had paid for this. I'm glad it's free, but you do have to give your honest feedback and earn this box through working on your badges. It takes some time and effort on your part, but it's not hard and definitely worth dedicating 30 min to an hour on the weekend.

I'm excited for the next big unveiling!
