Prom is only a few weeks away and you've always been the type to make an entrance. So consider trying one of these gowns that will make you feel like you're walking the red carpet.

It's that time of year when fashion and pop culture meet. If you're anything like I was, you probably have fantasized about going to the Academy Awards or at the very least donning a glittery gown like your favorite idols and feeling like a star for the night. With prom approaching, many credible designers are coming up with dresses inspired by dresses that the stars have worn. While you won't actually go to Hollywood, you'll feel like dazzling star as you glide across the room, decked out in the latest style.
Elegant Prom Dresses Inspired Celebrities
Several designers, including Sherri Hill, Jovani, and BG Haute have designed prom dresses and formal gowns that have been inspired by recent creations on the red carpet. In fact, many notable celebrities have worn their creations to various events. These are some of my favorite elegant designer prom dresses:
- Singer Meghan Trainor donned a flirty cap-sleeved Jovani dress to the 2014 Halo Awards. You can purchase the lacy fit and flared creation in either blush pink or light blue. The tulle skirt will flare as you dance around the ballroom like a princess. If you prefer something that hugs your figure a little more, consider wearing another Jovani creation, the silver strapless form-fitting cocktail dress that’s similar to the dress boxer Layla Ali wore to the 2015 Pre-Grammys Party. It features beautiful floral embellishments, including along the neckline.
- Actress Jennifer Aniston looked sleek and sexy in her long black halter gown. You can achieve a similar look in this Sherri Hill creation where she uses one of the newest trends, a two-piece dress. The cropped top features a sexy halter with intricate beading, while the long, flowing skirt features high pleats, adding an edgy sexiness. The black has a certain appeal but it comes in other colors as well. If you prefer something shorter, both Bella Thorne and Olivia Holt have worn a Sherri Hill mini-dress that’s perfect for your prom. Available in a multitude of colors, it features stunning embellishments over the entire bodice, and tulle flared skirt.
- Carrie Ann Inaba recently wore a stunning royal blue evening dress on Dancing with the Stars. You can also look like you're dancing with the stars in this long fitted dress that curves near the hemline and features a sexy front slit. In addition to a sweetheart neckline, this gown also features its own chunky rhinestone necklace so you won't have to worry about accessories.
- Actress and model Caitlin O' Connor was decked out in a long slimming Scala gown at the Oscars recently. You'll feel like you're walking the Red Carpet too as the beaded dress hugs your curves. This elegant and sexy gown comes in silver and gold.
As you contemplate which celebrity dress trends to follow, remember these are the hottest ones right now. In addition to crop tops with long flowing skirts, dresses using lots of lace, as well as gowns covered in embellishments and jewels are popular this year.
